From The Kierkegaarden:

“For faith is this paradox, that the particular is higher than the universal–yet in such a way, be it observed, that the movement repeats itself, and that consequently the individual, after having been in the universal, now as the particular isolates himself as higher than the universal. It this be not faith, then Abraham is lost, then faith has never existed in the world–because it has always existed.”

Our journey had advanced;

Our journey had advanced;
Our feet were almost come
To that odd fork in Being’s road,
Eternity by term.

Our pace took sudden awe,
Our feet reluctant led.
Before were cities, but between,
The forest of the dead.

Retreat was out of hope,–
Behind, a sealed route,
Eternity’s white flag before,
And God at every gate.

–Emily Dickinson

I was preparing to shut down Journey of Words these past couple of weeks. I had become frustrated. Frustrated with various aspects occurring in the world around me and the world within me. Unsure of the direction I wanted my writing to go. Experiencing a lack of confidence in what I want to communicate.

That changed in the past couple of days.

I happened upon this piece by Jessica Mesman Griffith and within the hour came across the blog of Barbara Nicolosi, Church of the Masses ( go and read Ms. Nicolosi’s review of “The Boy in the Striped Pajamas”..have to make it a point to see this one).

And so I begin the journey again with the hopes that my own journey will be advanced.
